AWEWE 2024 brings together 200 Women Entrepreneurs

A recent event ‘Accelerate Women Entrepreneurship with Exabytes (AWEWE) 2024’ has taken place in Kuala Lumpur and Penang at Exabytes Event Hall, that brought more than 200 pioneering women entrepreneurs, thought leaders and industry experts together in order to engage as well as exploring opportunities in the digital realm.

A discussion also took place between the attendees about strategies for catalysing economic inclusion via cyber security in addition to technological advancements. The entire aim of the event was fostering and building gender equality and empowering women in the entrepreneurial sphere.

The conference had a theme of “Catalysing Economic Inclusion Through Cyber Security and Tech Advancements”. This event served as a platform for the attendees to address the gender inequalities in technology industry in Malaysia where women capture 35% of the workforce.

 A panel that was held during the conference comprised of entrepreneurs that includes Shemaine Wong, co-founder and CEO of Cult Creative; Musrifah Malek, co-founder of MADCash; and Huay Ping Seet, founder of Origin Bulk Store.

Shemaine said, “I was previously working with clients like Disney, Nestle and Adidas but when Covid-19 happened, unfortunately, the company shut down. Cult Creative started off as a job platform but recently, we pivoted into a creative economy network.”
