Alibaba launches Academy for Women Entrepreneurs in Europe

Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) has been launched in Europe by Alibaba.com in order to foster gender equality and female entrepreneurship. The participants of the academy shall get to hear from small business owner testimonials for more than 10 weeks in addition to get the opportunity to connect with a community of industry leaders, investors, mentors and organisations that are working to increase gender equality in decision making.

The members of the academy shall also get to explore leadership modules in addition to negotiation, strategy, business and financial models along with funding and communications. AWE is all set to welcome 40 female-led companies all over Europe.

Michela Rubegni, marketing director in Alibaba.com Europe said in a statement, “By giving women entrepreneurs the tools and knowledge to empower themselves, we believe that we can ultimately contribute to a more inclusive and prosperous global economy.”

She added, “With the launch of the AWE initiative, our aim is to draw upon our two decades of experience in enabling global trade and provide participants with the necessary support, resources, and networking opportunities to thrive in today’s competitive landscape, overcoming gender-related obstacles. We are looking forward to connecting with all the entrepreneurs that will join us in this exciting journey of learning and growth.”

The application for the AWE admission is open till June 28, 2024 while the program is expected to start during autumn this year.
