Nigerian First Lady launches Digital Skills Training Program for Women

Southwest Huawei Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Women in Tech Training has been launched by the first lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu. The initiative has been introduced in order to empower women entrepreneurs with tech and digital skills for economic growth and development of the country.

The first lady claimed that this training program shall provide necessary skills and resources to women entrepreneurs of Nigeria during the launch of the initiative took place at University of Lagos (UNILAG). She said that it will help the female entrepreneurs to compete favourably in the technology sphere.

It has also been disclosed that the program is in a collaboration with HUAWEI that ratifies the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 5) while seeking to achieve gender equality in addition to full participation of women along with equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making.

Mrs. Oluremi stated, “The Huawei Women in Tech Digital Training programme is more than just a series of workshops; it is a symbol of the government’s commitment in bridging the gender divide in the digital world. Technology enhances efficiency, facilitates innovation, and improves quality of life, in addition to its potency in driving economic growth and providing solutions to global challenges, in the environment, healthcare, governance, among other sectors. The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), conceived by the present administration at the federal level, is poised to positively impact the lives of Nigerians by bringing individuals out of poverty, educating them, and guiding them towards better lives for their families.”

While concluding the event, she exclaimed that by the end of the training, the participants shall get in-depth knowledge on technology which will not only help to grow their business but to sustain in the technological world with better understanding.
