It has been estimated that if the gender gap gets eliminated then a figure of $6 trillion can be unlocked in the Global GDP. Moreover, Africa holds acute problems and opportunities which technically considered as the highest proportion of women entrepreneurs holding country in the world.

With an urge to make a change, Thiaba Camara Sy has co-founded an investment fund entitled ‘WIC Capital’ that is committed to make available the financial access to Global South’s women entrepreneurs. Till date, the firm has accumulated funding of more than $5 million while assisting a total of 8 women-led businesses who earlier found it difficult to get funds.

Amongst the women entrepreneurs, Souadou Fall has done a great job through transforming waste management by making sustainable fuel source from converting discarded tires. In addition to Souadou, there’s one more name ‘Safiétou Seck’ who has successfully made her name in the fashion designing industry. Alongside these two entrepreneurs, Isseu Diop Sakho is another female entrepreneur who has expanded her pastry business while aiding many local suppliers and employees.

Despite all the growth and efforts, women entrepreneurs still face barriers in raising funds and getting financial capitals across the world. There’s one meeting between World Bank and International Monetary Fund which is to take place in the 3rd week of April, 2024 where leaders are expected to discuss on economic potential of women while considering economic growth.
