Olivia Rodrigo's album 'Sour' breaks Records on Spotify

Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album Sour (Geffen) which was released on May 21, 2021 still comes on top in ranking. During 2021, this LP ranked as the biggest debut of the year and broke all the records by becoming the most-streamed female artist’s album in a week in Spotify history. The record scored over 385 million global streams.

After 3 years, it has been confirmed by Geffen Records that the album became the all-time highest-streaming album by a female artist on Spotify. Since its release, it has streamed over 12.3 billion times on the music platform.

While speaking with the audience, Olivia says, “I found out the other day … that [Sour] is the most streamed album by a female artist on Spotify. And that is literally all because of you. I cannot thank you guys enough.”

She added, “I made the album in my bedroom and my producer’s garage, and I had no expectation of anyone other than my mom and my closest friends listening to it. But as it turns out, lots of people related to the feelings that I was talking about on that album.” The success of the album shows how talented Olivia is and exemplifies audiences' likability towards the song.
