A St. Petersburg-based telemedicine business that specialises in women's health has closed a $2.4 million seed round that was oversubscribed.

The round was disclosed by LunaJoy Health, which started using its online platform in October 2021. The identities of every investor, including the primary investor, were kept secret.

In a prior interview with Tampa Bay Inno, Sipra Laddha, CEO and cofounder of LunaJoy, noted that "being a female, not from the startup industry, has been part of an exciting journey."

The issue of maternal health is also very simple to overlook. We have observed the worldwide effects, but as investors accustomed to investing in fintech or general health, which have received much time and attention, it is a different perspective. However, it is a fantastic economic opportunity, and we are fortunate to have investors who saw the potential at an early stage.

Psychiatrists Shama Rathi and Laddha, who founded LunaJoy, both have prior medical experience. The business provides a virtual clinic for women throughout their lives, from puberty to perimenopause. It offers coaching, medication management, and in-network therapy. In addition to having doctors, therapists, and coaches with mental health training, it has worked with industry giants Cigna and Optum.

In a statement, Laddha said she wanted to make sure that, unlike so often, women's health issues received the attention, respect, and seriousness they required from the medical profession. The news of today's rise shows that not only do other people share our passion for our mission, but also that women from all walks of life will get the support and consideration they so richly merit.

The money will go toward expanding the company's workforce, geographical reach, and user base. From 17 different states, more than 1,000 people have utilised LunaJoy. It has participated in the Y Combinator and Tampa Bay Wave accelerator programmes.

The passion surrounding innovation in Tampa Bay has been "the one thing we've been constantly extremely enthused about," according to Laddha. "Every discussion we've had has been quite favourable. Although there is a lot of innovation happening across the nation, Tampa Bay has received it with amazing enthusiasm.
