A total number of 45 women along with young citizens coming from economically disadvantaged municipalities shall set out towards new entrepreneurial waters. These women shall empower themselves through the extended EU PRO Plus programme with the assistance of European Union of more than 360,000 Euros.

The grant awarding certificates which are made for these 45 entrepreneurs was presented by Plamena Halacheva, the Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia alongside a representative of the Ministry of European Integration, Ivana Đurić on April 16, 2024 at Vrnjačka Banja.

Plamena stated in her comment, “EU support to small businesses – which are the backbone of economic growth – takes various forms, but we do place a special emphasis on women and youth. We know that when women entrepreneurs prosper, they are more likely to invest in their community, be in education, children’s health or intergenerational solidarity. The ripple effect of their success directly enriches the local economy and contributes to positive changes in their community, as we witness with all the projects showcased today. We need to celebrate the achievements of female and young entrepreneurs and promote them as positive role models and source of inspiration.”

Additionally, she said that fostering entrepreneurship amongst youth and women is extremely important for economic empowerment especially to those who come from areas with greater economic needs.
