"Ambassador for a Day 2023" held to Inspire the Next Generation of Female Leaders

The United Nations Office of the Resident Coordinator in Kampala, along with the embassies of the UK, Denmark, and Sweden, proudly supported the "Ambassador for a Day 2023" competition.

The "Ambassador for a Day" is an annual global initiative that aims at providing young women exciting opportunities to take on the respective title. By encouraging a new generation of female leaders to have ambition, inspiration, and momentum, this competition works to advance gender equality.

This competition includes essay writings that are submitted to the selection panel which chooses the qualified participants. This year, young female candidates and aspiring female entrepreneurs from all over Uganda were on focus.

This year's event included a pitching session with Damali Ssali who is the creator of the Youth Entrepreneurship Programme - Ideation Corner which was held on 1 June 2023 where 10 winners were hosted by the British High Commission and partners. They have been provided the chance to take part in several inspiring activities, including shadowing the ambassador labor the respective embassies and the UN Resident Coordinator which also gave a chance to interact with the inspirational businesswoman and also participated in a pitch session with Damali Ssali. The event also included some top business mentors namely Emma Mugisha, Eunice Waweru, Barbara Mulwana, Dr Nataliey Bitature, and Bridget Brown.
